  • Restructure and rehabilitation project from Esajadi Power Sdn Bhd with the 21-year Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreement (REPPA), facilitated by Deloitte.
  • In 2015, the plant granted SEDA FIT REPPArate from Small Renewable Energy Power (SREP) Programme, upgrading generation allowed from 10MWto 12MW.
  • On May 2012, the plant granted SEDA FITREPPA rate from RM 0.17 to RM 0.24 per KWh
  • Date of 2015 earthquake: 4/6/2015
  • Type of turbine: Horizontal Francis Turbine, Hokkaido Electric Power (Japan)
Project Capacity and Impact:
- Total maximum output: 2 MW.
- Annual generating power: 13,441 MWh.
- Reduction in global GHGs: up to 10,000 tons CO2e annually (approximately 210,000 tons CO2e over 21 years).

Hydropower Landscape in Sabah:
- Only 6 small run-of-river hydropower plants operated by SESB (Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd.).
- No private sector involvement in small-scale hydropower due to investment barriers.

Market Context:
- Small-scale hydro power generation is not prevalent in Sabah; thermal power is more common.
- This project will be the first private sector venture into small hydro power generation in Sabah.

Connection and Agreement:
- SESB is the sole power utility in Sabah with an extensive transmission network.
- Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with SESB on 7th July 2005.
- Project will be connected to SESB’s west coast transmission grids.

Contribution to Sustainable Development:
- Supports governmental policy on sustainable energy.
- Promotes local employment and economic revitalization through construction and maintenance of the hydropower plant.
- Facilitates technical transfer and advances small hydro power development in Sabah by the private sector.
The hydro plant will broadly consist of the following :
  • Using existing access road, to minimizethe earthworks.
  • Extra earth will be disposed away, andspot turfing will be employed to prevent soil erosion.
  • Drainage systems, sedimentation ponds and disposal areas will be provided at the powerhouse area, access road and pipeline route.
  • To abide Interim National Water Quality Standards of Malaysia as to maintain the water quality under Class 11B6.
  • Temporary workers houses will be placed 30m away from the river side and the workplace will be placed 50m away.
  • Extra earth will be placed 30m away fromthe river side and sedimentation pond will be provided.
  • Working on daytime from 7am to 5pm. Noiselevel will not exceed 55dBA from 8am to 6pm and 45dBA from 6pm to 8am.
  • Control the speed of vehicles, especially during dry period to reduce dusty surfaces.
  • Solid waste or plants debris not bethrown into drainage, pond or river. Solid waste collection must be placed 30maway from the river and liquid collection, especially oil and toxic must beplaced 50m away.
